“I still think back to when I first started this challenge in 2016 on a whim from my professor. I look back 6 years later working professionally and if it wasn’t for that suggestion I wouldn’t be here today. The memories make me never lose sight of why I love this craft.”

Derrick Malik Johnson
Storyboard Artist, Storyboard Layout at A24

“Looking back on the 24-hour challenge, it was an awesome experience as a young animation student. It taught me the value of hard work and dedication, how to solve problems under pressure, and most importantly, how to collaborate and trust my team.”

Pablo de Estrada
Argentinian student - competed 2019
{

“After participating/winning in 24HOURS and graduating, I’ve been working as a freelance animator/2D artist for clients across the globe! My teammate and I made a short graduation film that brought us to many places across Asia. I want to express my gratitude for what this challenge gave us.”

Pattama Homrod
Student from Rangsit University, Thailand (2019)
{

“After participating in 2021, my team and I continued working together and founded our independent animation studio Flambo Animation in Brazil. We directed and produced an animated pilot that won awards. I won a Wacom Cintiq which I wouldn’t have had the funds to purchase.”

Artur de Toledo Risi Bombonati
Student from FAAP Brazil, 2019
{

“My short animated film ‘Crow Man’ has been selected and won prizes in many festivals and will be screened in Annecy animation festival and Cannes LACINEF official selection 2024. I loved everything about this contest – it was such a fun challenge!”

Yohann Abdelnour
Lebanon - 2nd place winner 2023
{

“After this contest I graduated and started attending Vancouver Film School! I was hired to animate 2 full music videos, reached a million subscribers on YouTube, and interned at Nelvana Studio. The three years I participated were the most fun and challenging experiences I’ll remember forever!”

Xierra Cansino
Sisler High School student, winner 2021 and 2022
{

“The best thing about the 24H Contest is how much it’s helped me deal with time constraints and team working. The contest has made me a better professional, more prepared to deal with deadlines and stress as a team. It’s a great opportunity to learn about yourself.”

Elisa de Camargo Soares Pires
2023 winning team from FAAP Brazil
{

“2016 was the first year I participated as a student – my team was the first Latin-American team ever. Now in 2023, I supported all my students! We had 10 teams registered and students created memories that will last forever. The contest is exhausting, but only those who live and evolve with characters can understand the beauty behind this.”

Jessica Elías
Program Director of BA in Digital Arts at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Qro.
{

“This was my first time trying this animation contest. There was definitely stress and crunch but it was also a lot of fun. As we posted it, I realized I don’t think I really care if we win – me and 4 other people worked the absolute heck out of this project and I am personally proud of my team and tickled to death by the film we made.”

Brandon Hatmaker
Student at Austin Peay State University, Major: Media Arts & Animation
{

“Just the time crunch. With all the stress and work and lack of sleep, sometimes you feel like “AHHH, why are you doing this to children? What kind of sick people are you to put us through this?!” but I did do this purposefully knowing it would be stressful so I can’t blame you guys, Honestly I am excited for next year.”
